DURHAM, N.C. — The Carolina Blaze will play their home games at Smith Family Stadium at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, for the 2026 AUSL season. The announcement, made Jan. 13 as part of the league’s city reveal, gives the Blaze a permanent home in one of the Southeast’s most established college softball markets.
Durham brings a strong sports infrastructure and proximity to multiple Division I softball programs. The Blaze host the Portland Cascade in their first home game on Opening Day, June 9, 2026.
Smith Family Stadium at Duke
Smith Family Stadium, located on the campus of Duke University, provides the Blaze with a modern, intimate venue in one of the most college-sports-rich markets in the country. The facility seats over 1,000 fans and features a natural grass playing surface, modern lighting and player amenities suited for professional competition.
Durham’s location in the Research Triangle region of North Carolina gives the Blaze access to a large, educated fan base with strong ties to collegiate athletics. The market also benefits from year-round warm weather that allows for an extended outdoor season.
Front Office and Coaching Staff
The Blaze are led by general manager Jenny Dalton-Hill and head coach Stacey Nuveman Deniz. Dalton-Hill, a former Arizona standout, brings front-office experience, while Nuveman Deniz, a three-time Olympic medalist and one of the greatest catchers in USA Softball history, leads the coaching staff.
Carolina holds the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 AUSL College Draft on May 4 on ESPN2, giving the franchise the opportunity to add the top prospect to an already competitive roster that includes 2025 AUSL Rookie of the Year Ana Gold and pitcher Emma Lemley.
