HILLSBORO, Ore. — The Portland Cascade will play their home games at Hillsboro Ballpark in Hillsboro, Oregon, for the 2026 AUSL season. The expansion franchise becomes Oregon’s newest professional sports team and the Pacific Northwest’s first professional softball club.
The Cascade selected pitcher Sam Landry with their first pick in the December 2025 expansion draft. They open the 2026 season on the road June 9 at Carolina Blaze before returning to Hillsboro for their first home series.
Ron Tonkin Field
Ron Tonkin Field in Hillsboro, part of the greater Portland metropolitan area, provides the Cascade with a professional-grade venue in the Pacific Northwest. The stadium, which also hosts the Hillsboro Hops minor league baseball team, seats approximately 4,500 fans and features modern amenities suited for professional competition.
Portland’s status as a growing sports market — home to the Portland Timbers (MLS), Portland Thorns (NWSL) and Portland Trail Blazers (NBA) — gives the Cascade an established infrastructure for professional sports fandom. The Thorns’ success in women’s professional soccer provides a particularly relevant blueprint for the Cascade’s market positioning.
Expansion Franchise
The Cascade were one of two expansion franchises added to the AUSL for the 2026 season, alongside the OKC Spark. Portland’s selection as an expansion city reflected the league’s commitment to building a national footprint, with the Pacific Northwest representing a key market that had no professional softball presence.
The expansion brought the AUSL from four to six teams and introduced the permanent home-city model, replacing the touring format used during the 2025 inaugural season.
Roster and Staff
The Cascade’s roster includes former Arizona Wildcats pitcher Alyssa Denham and catcher Dejah Mulipola, both of whom bring professional experience to the expansion franchise. The team will continue building through the 2026 AUSL College Draft on May 4 on ESPN2.
2026 Season
Portland opens on the road June 9 before hosting their first home series at Ron Tonkin Field later in the month. All 50 AUSL games air across ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ABC under the league’s multi-year broadcast deal.
