Michaela Edenfield: Florida State Catcher Drafted by Texas Volts

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida State catcher Michaela Edenfield was selected by the Texas Volts as the No. 8 overall pick in the inaugural AUSL College Draft after receiving a golden ticket on April 30, 2025.

A five-year letter winner for the Seminoles, Edenfield ranks among the most decorated catchers in Florida State program history.

College Career

Edenfield started 239 of 243 career games at Florida State, batting .313 with 54 home runs — the third-highest total in program history. She ranks second in FSU history in slugging (.649), third in home runs and walks (163), and fifth in RBI (202).

Her 2024 redshirt junior season was her best offensively, producing a .381 batting average with 15 home runs and 46 RBI. In her final 2025 season, she hit .333 with a .500 on-base percentage, 13 doubles, nine home runs, and 47 RBI.

Edenfield was a key member of the 2023 Florida State squad that reached the Women’s College World Series, earning a spot on the WCWS All-Tournament Team.
